Georgia fugitive Terry Huggins arrested for SORNA violation (Lee County Sheriff's Office)

A Georgia fugitive and convicted sex offender was arrested in Lee County, AL after law enforcement said he relocated to the area according to a release from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

On May 4, 2026, Investigators with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office received a tip from the Alabama Fusion Center regarding 21-year-old registered sex offender Terry Huggins, III.

The information indicated that Huggins had outstanding felony warrants in Carroll County Georgia for probation violations, as well as Sex Offender Registration Notification Act (SORNA) violations related to a prior conviction for Child Molestation through Carrollton, GA in 2021. He was believed to be a fugitive residing in Lee County.

Following an investigation, Lee County Investigators, along with members of the United States Marshals Service, located and arrested Huggins without incident, at a relative’s residence located in the 100 block of Lee Road 515 in the Phenix City area of Lee County, Alabama.

As a result of the investigation, Huggins, who is originally from Atlanta, Georgia, has also been charged in Lee County with the additional State of Alabama felony SORNA Violation for Prohibited Residence Locations related to residing or conducting overnight visits with minors. Huggins is currently being held in the Lee County Detention Facility with a $10,000 bond, awaiting extradition. Federal SORNA charges are expected.
