CLEVELAND, Ga. — White County Commissioner Edwin Nix has been reappointed to the Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission for another five-year term.
Gov. Brian Kemp formally reappointed Nix on Aug. 21. Nix participated in a swearing-in ceremony at the Governor’s Office on Sept. 2.
“I am grateful for Governor Kemp’s confidence and for the opportunity to continue serving the people of Georgia,” Nix said. “Protecting our soil and managing erosion are important parts of protecting the quality of our water and preserving these resources for future generations.”
Nix represents Region II, which includes 23 counties and 11 soil and water conservation districts across Northeast Georgia. His role includes representing White County’s conservation interests and those of the surrounding region at the state level.
The Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission works with local conservation districts to protect and improve the state’s soil and water resources, encourage responsible natural resource use, and support water quality and conservation efforts.
The statewide commission consists of five supervisors appointed by the governor, with each representing a different region of Georgia.
