Canon woman charged with murder after allegedly striking man with vehicle

CANON, Ga. — A Franklin County woman faces murder and other charges after authorities say she struck and killed a man with a vehicle during a domestic violence incident witnessed by at least two children.

Franklin County 911 received the call from Cheek Drive in Canon at 10:21 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17. Deputies and emergency medical personnel responded, followed by investigators from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

Roy Adam Gentry of Canon was flown by helicopter to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, where he later died from his injuries.

Investigators allege that the driver, identified as 32-year-old Lisa Marie Peeples of Canon, drove toward at least two people at the scene, striking Gentry. Authorities said at least two minor children witnessed the incident.

Peeples was arrested and charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault under the Family Violence Act, aggravated assault, first-degree vehicular homicide while driving under the influence, first-degree vehicular homicide by reckless driving, two counts of second-degree cruelty to children, two counts of third-degree cruelty to children, DUI, hit-and-run, and reckless driving.

The sheriff’s office said additional charges may be filed.
