Missing Fort Benning soldier found safe (Columbus Police Department)

A missing Fort Benning soldier has been located safe according to the Columbus Police Department. Kiernon Swann was found in good condition according to law enforcement. The mysterious circumstances surrounding his disappearance have not been revealed by police or officials at Fort Benning.

The 23-year-old Swann graduated from basic training on Friday May 8th, 2026, and failed to return to post by Sunday May 10, 2026, according to his mother Jamie Swann. According to the soldier’s mother his disappearance was out of character. ” He is bright, smart, dedicated and very motivated. No he did not go AWOL,” she wrote on social media noting that Kiernon Swann was one of four individuals to graduate with a promotion in his squad.

Another person close to the family posted on Facebook that the FBI was involved in the search for Swann and that he may have left the state of Georgia. Those details have not been confirmed, and it is still unclear where the soldier was located.
