HOMER, Ga. — Authorities have identified the woman killed in Tuesday’s crash at Historic Homer Highway and U.S. 441/GA 15 as 75-year-old Rosa Lee Brooks of Dahlonega.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, Brooks was driving a Chevrolet Colorado east on Historic Homer Highway around noon on Sept. 1 when she failed to stop at a stop sign and entered the path of a southbound Ford F-150. The Ford struck the driver’s side of her pickup.
Banks County Fire & Emergency Services responded at 11:59 a.m. and found Brooks trapped in her vehicle. Firefighters had to extricate her. She died from her injuries before emergency crews arrived, said Banks County Fire Chief Steve Nichols.
Authorities identified the Ford’s driver as 26-year-old Morgan Rose Attwood of Nicholson. Attwood was transported by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville in stable condition, Nichols said.
