
The Webster County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a double homicide after two teens were discovered dead there Wednesday July 1, 2026. The incident occurred in the area of Highway 41 north of Preston, Georgia. The cause of death for the teens has not been released.
Columbus television station WTVM reports the mother of one of the teens used a tracking device on her cell phone which led to the discovery of a vehicle and the victims nearby at the scene.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is now the lead agency investigating the case.

The sheriff’s office said in a statement that even seemingly minor details may be valuable to the investigation. “We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation as investigators work to gather the facts and ensure a thorough investigation.”
