A seatbelt violation leads to a felony drug charge for a truck driver according to the Reynolds Police Department.
On May 4,2026, Officer Aldridge and Sergeant Harrell observed a driver of a commercial motor vehicle not utilizing their seatbelt. A traffic stop was conducted and officers smelled the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. The driver admitted to recently smoking marijuana and a preliminary search of the vehicle was conducted.
During the search, officers located a large sum of cash and a quantity of suspected cocaine. During the course of the investigation, it was suspected that the cash was used in a facilitation of drug transactions.
The driver, Roderick Dwayne Jackson,35 of Dillon, South Carolina was arrested and charged with the following:
Seatbelt Violation – Misdemeanor
Driving Under the Influence (Drugs) – Misdemeanor
VGCSA Schedule II – Felony
Possession of Marijuana – Misdemeanor
Further charges are pending according to police.
