SANTA ROSA BEACH, Fla. — Investigators searching for a Florida murder suspect with ties to Habersham County say they continue to pursue every lead but have yet to develop any credible information about her whereabouts.
Corey Dobridnia, public information officer for the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, told NowGeorgia on Friday that investigators are following up on tips but none have led them to 41-year-old Isabelle Rose Johnson.
“We’re obligated to chase down every lead, of course, but nothing so far has led us to her now,” Dobridnia said.
Johnson is wanted in connection with the July 8 fatal shooting of 49-year-old Jason Coulthart inside a home on East Nursery Road in Walton County, Florida. Authorities have described her as armed and dangerous.
The case has drawn attention in Northeast Georgia because Johnson has local ties. As previously reported by NowGeorgia, she has family connections in Habersham County and was arrested in Carroll County, Georgia, just days before the homicide.
Dobridnia also confirmed that investigators believe Johnson and Coulthart knew one another.
“They ran in the same circles,” she said, declining to elaborate because of the ongoing investigation.
Sheriff’s office shares victim’s story
As the search for Johnson continues, the Walton County Sheriff’s Office is urging the public to remember the life of the man at the center of the case.
In a social media post Thursday, the agency shared memories from Coulthart’s family, describing him as a devoted father, loyal friend and generous man who was always willing to help others.
According to the sheriff’s office, Coulthart grew up in New Jersey before spending time in Florida. Friends nicknamed him “Jersey,” while family members remembered him as someone who loved sports, the outdoors and spending time at his family’s longtime cottage on Lake Ontario.
His parents, Ken and Sandy Coulthart, said he was known for helping people without expecting anything in return. Since his death, they have received numerous messages from people sharing stories of his kindness, including accounts of Coulthart restoring electricity to a neighbor’s home and buying groceries for someone in need.
The sheriff’s office also noted that Coulthart leaves behind a 20-year-old son and a younger brother, Timothy, who described their final FaceTime conversation as one in which Jason appeared “happy, clear-eyed, and at peace.”
The family said they hope people remember Coulthart not only as the victim in a homicide investigation, but as “someone who showed up, someone who made people feel cared for, someone worth knowing.”
Public urged to remain vigilant
Investigators continue asking anyone with information about Johnson’s whereabouts to contact the Walton County Sheriff’s Office immediately. Authorities caution that she should not be approached.
The investigation remains active.
