CLERMONT, Ga. — A Lawrenceville woman has been charged with second-degree vehicular homicide following a June traffic crash in Clermont that resulted in the death of an 82-year-old Helen man.
According to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Unit, the collision occurred just before 10 a.m. on Sunday, June 14, at the intersection of Holly Springs Road and Cleveland Highway (U.S. 129).
Investigators determined that 42-year-old Kinverlyn Carolina Ollarves pulled onto Cleveland Highway from the west side of Holly Springs Road into the path of a southbound Jeep Wrangler driven by Alvin Dale Wallace.
Authorities said the impact caused Wallace’s Jeep to overturn multiple times before coming to rest on its driver’s side.
Wallace was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville with critical injuries. He died on June 17 as a result of those injuries, according to investigators.
Following Wallace’s death, Hall County investigators obtained an arrest warrant charging Ollarves with second-degree vehicular homicide. She also faces charges of violating a stop sign and operating a vehicle with improper tire conditions.

Ollarves turned herself in at the Hall County Jail on June 20. Jail records show she remains in custody without bond on the vehicular homicide charge. Authorities also placed an immigration hold on Ollaraves — a citizen of Venezuela who was in the United States illegally, according to the sheriff’s office.
Funeral services for Wallace were held on Monday, June 22.
Originally from DeKalb County, he moved to North Georgia after retirement. In his obituary, friends and family remembered him for riding his motorcycle through Helen, driving his Jeep around town with his dog, Johnboy, and sharing his joy for life with those around him.
Wallace is survived by his two sons and their wives, six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
