Alvin Dale Wallace

Alvin Dale Wallace was many things: devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. But most of all, Alvin was a good and faithful servant of Jesus.

Alvin spent 82 years on earth, every moment of which he showed others love, compassion, and kindness. Alvin exemplified what it means to be a Christ-like man. He was gentle, honest, and strong. He had a contagious smile. Alvin lived his life to the fullest and made sure to make others feel special and loved along the way.

Alvin was born on August 6, 1943, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Pearl and Turner Wallace. He was one of six sons. He graduated from Southwest DeKalb High School in 1961. He spent many years in management working for Southern Engineering. Alvin showed us what it means to live life to the fullest. From moving his life to the mountains of North Georgia, riding his motorcycle through the streets of Helen, and cruising around town in his Jeep with his beloved dog, Johnboy, Alvin made the most out of his time here on earth. Alvin pursued what brought him joy and happiness in this life and made it a point to share that exuberance with those around him.

His love for the gospel was unfailing. Alvin spent much of his life praising the Lord through song, serving as the choir director at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church for many years. Alvin loved lifting his voice high for the glory of God. His loved ones rest easy knowing that he is certainly in heaven, leading a choir on the streets of gold.

Alvin’s life was one full of blessings, all of which he shared with others. Alvin’s heart was gentle; he was slow to anger but quick to laugh, and his arms were always open. To know Alvin was to love Alvin. His body has passed away, but his memory in our hearts and minds will certainly live on forever. A man of such great spirit cannot easily be forgotten. May we all take a lesson from Alvin: love deeply, sing loudly, and live fully.

No love could match that of Alvin’s love for his sons, Todd and Steve, and his beautiful wife, Grace. Alvin’s dedication to his family and the love he fostered among them will be forever remembered and cherished. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Grace Wallace, and his father, Turner Wallace; mother, Pearl Wallace; and brothers, Whit Wallace, Tommy Wallace, and Rusty Wallace. Alvin is survived by his sons and their wives, Todd and Stacy and Steve and Nancy, his grandchildren, Garrett, Emily, Karly, Katie, Kayla, and Jake, his great grandchildren, Wyatt, Everly, Weston, Hazyl, and Laith, and his brothers, Michael and Susan and Tim and Dee Dee Wallace.

Alvin has gone home to the Lord and to be reunited with the woman that he loved here on earth. Our beloved Dad, Pawpaw, Brother, and friend has entered the gates of heaven as a good and faithful servant of the Lord. He has shared an embrace with Jesus and rests easy, free of pain and suffering. One day we will meet again, but until then, we will remember the love we shared with Alvin and the joy he brought to us all.
