Sue Elizabeth Maney King

Sue Elizabeth Maney King, age 82, of Cornelia, danced her way into eternity on Monday, June 15, 2026. Born with a natural flair on New Year’s Eve, December 31, 1943, at the historic Charm House in Clarkesville, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Jewell and Lucille Maney.

Sue was a force of nature—vibrant, vivacious, bubbly, and kind. She simply made the world a better, brighter place. For a number of years, she was one of the most familiar and welcoming faces at Williams Dress Shop, where she delighted in styling everyone who came her way. Her impeccable taste extended well beyond fashion; she had a lifelong passion for interior design, decorating, and nurturing her beautiful flower gardens.

To know Sue was to laugh. Blessed with a quick wit and a love for humor, she could leave a whole room in stitches with her stories and infectious laugh. She loved people, loved helping others, and was the ultimate entertainer. When she wasn’t hosting, she and her beloved husband, Melvin, were the dynamic duo always game to cut a rug.

Sue’s heart was enormous, spanning a deep love for animals (she and Melvin were lifetime companions to a host of very spoiled felines) and an ocean of love for her family. She absolutely adored children, especially her nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly. Sue was also a dedicated member of Tates Creek Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. King was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin King; her sister, Shirlee Williams; and her brothers, Jewell Maney Jr. and Bobby Maney.
She is survived by stepdaughter Angie Hamill; sister-in-law Betsy King; brother-in-law Jarrell Williams; brothers & sisters-in-law Leonard (Jeannette) Maney and Larry (Jane) Maney; nieces & nephews Mike (Kelly) Maney, Karin (Shawn) McGill, Amanda (Zach) Cash, Tyler (Tasha) Maney, Alisha (Chris) Landers, Jackie (Dennis) Buchannan, Jeff (Karen) Williams, and Frank (Misty) King; extended family of several great-nieces and great-nephews, whom she treasured.

A celebration of Sue’s life will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, June 28, 2026, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin and McEntire Funeral Home,175 VFW Post Rd, Cornelia, GA 30531, with Rev. Jerrell Beatty officiating.
