Edward “Jimmy” Tidwell

Edward “Jimmy” Tidwell, age 81, of Cornelia, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.

Mr. Tidwell was born on August 17, 1944, in Birmingham, Alabama, to the late Roosevelt and Eula Tidwell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Julia “Judy” Simmemon Tidwell; sisters Willodene Payne, Jesse Stephens, Helen Bishop, Elizabeth Infinger, and Rosie Pugh; and brothers Rudolph Tidwell and Jerry Tidwell. Jimmy had retired from the City of Cornelia with many years of service. He was a member of Cornelia Congregational Holiness Church.

Survivors include his sister, Loraine Kinsey Watts, of Toccoa, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, with Rev. Terry Benfield and Rev. Clarence Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow in the Level Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Monday, June 22, 2026, at the funeral home.
