HIAWASSEE, Ga. — Multiple agencies responded to a reported water death near a marina on Lake Chatuge in Towns County on Saturday.
According to the Towns County Sheriff’s Office, deputies assisted with the investigation in the area of the marina near The Ridges.
Agencies responding to the scene included the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, the Towns County Coroner’s Office, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and local emergency services personnel.
On Saturday afternoon, authorities asked boaters and members of the public to avoid the immediate area while investigators worked.
The GBI is handling the investigation, and authorities have not released any other details.
