Credit card skimmers found at Harris County Dollar General stores

Credit card skimmers were discovered inside two Harris County Dollar General stores according to investigators there.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office would like to notify the public that two credit card skimmers were recently located at Dollar General stores in Waverly Hall and Pine Mountain Valley. At this time, it is unclear how long the skimmers were in place. We encourage anyone who may have used their card at these locations to closely monitor their bank accounts and credit card statements for any unauthorized or fraudulent charges.

If you notice suspicious activity:
• Contact your bank or credit card company immediately
• Report the unauthorized charges
• Cancel or freeze affected cards if necessary
• Continue monitoring your accounts for additional activity

Credit card skimmers are often placed on gas pumps, ATMs, and store card readers and can be difficult to detect. Always inspect card readers before use and consider using tap-to-pay options when available.
