HALL COUNTY, Ga. — Whether searching for a missing child, guiding a disoriented elderly person home or tracking a wanted suspect, K9 Ann spent her life helping others.
The 6-year-old bloodhound, a valued member of the Hall County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit, died Sept. 16. She was taken to the University of Georgia Veterinary Hospital for further examination to determine the cause of her death. Authorities said no foul play is suspected.
Ann’s career with the sheriff’s office began when she was just 8 weeks old. She later earned a National Trailing Certification and became known for the powerful tracking abilities that helped bring people home safely and assist deputies during criminal investigations.
During her career, Ann answered the call on more than 200 operational deployments. She searched for missing children, lost residents and disoriented elderly people while also helping track wanted suspects.
Ann served alongside Deputy Nick Adams beginning in April 2021. Before that, she was partnered with Staff Sgt. Ryan Watson.
Her service extended beyond searches and law enforcement operations. Ann was also a familiar presence at community gatherings, including Mutts on Main and other events throughout Hall County, where residents could meet the bloodhound behind the badge.
The sheriff’s office said Ann’s legacy of service, dedication and lives saved will long be remembered.
The agency is asking the community to keep Ann’s handler and family in their thoughts and prayers as they mourn her loss.
