Race for Columbus mayor to be decided in runoff

The race for Columbus mayor will be determined in a runoff between former city manager Isaiah Hugley and city councilor Joanne Cogle. Hugley led the race with 16,315 votes and 44.69%. Cogle came in second with 9,188 votes and 25.17%. One candidate had to receive 50% plus one to win the race outright.

There were four other candidates in the race for mayor. Trial attorney Chris Breault came in third with 4,718 votes. Dr. Jaketra Bryant had 3,460 votes followed by Mark LaJoye with 1,861 votes. Steve Kelly garnered 968 votes.

The runoff is scheduled for June 16, 2026.
