Some people woke up this morning to a little bit of winter in the South! A quick-moving storm system dumped light snow across parts of northern Georgia overnight. Flakes fell around metro Atlanta and areas to the north as a low pressure system moved through the region.
Radar images from the National Weather Service show thin bands of snow over North Georgia, including one that went right over Atlanta.

The snow has moved out but frigid temperatures remain. Highs this afternoon will remain just above freezing before dropping back into the 20s overnight. If you’re outside in this cold, make sure to dress warmly to guard against frostbite and hypothermia.
High temps in Northeast Georgia will return well into the 40s by Sunday afternoon under sunny skies.
