GAINESVILLE, Ga. — A child was struck by a vehicle Wednesday at Limestone Marketplace shopping center in Gainesville. The child was flown to an Atlanta hospital, Gainesville Police Capt. Kevin Holbrook told local news outlets.

An eyewitness said the injured child was a 2-year-old boy, but authorities have not confirmed that. Police said the vehicle also struck a building at the shopping center, which includes Publix.

Firefighters and police responded shortly before noon on Oct. 7. Authorities advised visitors to expect a large emergency presence as crews worked a “serious vehicle crash” and police investigated.
