Two arrests have been made in connection with the deadly shooting of 34-year-old Davon Wallace Grimes in Columbus this past summer.
On Wednesday, September 9, 2026, the Columbus Police Department’s Fugitive Unit arrested Richard Upshaw III. The following day, the Fugitive Unit, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service, arrested Allen Williams.
On July 13, 2026, at 11:49 p.m., officers responded to the 1100 block of Curtis Street concerning a shooting. Upon arrival, they found Wallace suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported by EMS to Piedmont Columbus Regional, where he died from his injuries. The Violent Crimes Unit is leading the investigation.
Additional arrests are pending.
Both Upshaw and Williams have appeared in Recorder’s Court for preliminary hearings. Their cases were bound over to Muscogee County Superior Court. This case remains under investigation.
