FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ga. — Two Roswell residents died Saturday after their car hydroplaned and wrecked on Interstate 85, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
The crash happened around 12:47 p.m. Oct. 3 near the Carnesville exit. Troopers from Post 52 in Hartwell responded to the single-vehicle wreck.
Investigators said Khasan S. Umarov was driving northbound in a Toyota Camry when the car hydroplaned and he lost control. The Camry ran off the east shoulder of the interstate and struck a tree head-on.
Umarov, 63, and his wife, Khalisa Umarovna Umarova, 61, who was a passenger in the vehicle, were transported to St. Mary’s Sacred Heart Hospital, where both died from their injuries.
