HALL COUNTY, Ga. — Two Gainesville residents have been arrested on fentanyl trafficking charges following a multi-agency operation targeting a major drug distribution network in North Georgia, authorities said.
Jacques Latron Franks, 41, and Monique Renee Burton, 32, were each charged with trafficking fentanyl and sale of fentanyl, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
The arrests stem from an operation conducted by the GBI’s Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office, which targeted what investigators described as a drug trafficking organization responsible for distributing fentanyl, crack cocaine and methamphetamine throughout the region.
Authorities executed multiple search and arrest warrants across Hall County during the operation. Investigators seized about 5 pounds of suspected fentanyl, 1 pound of suspected marijuana and 14 grams of suspected crack cocaine.
Franks and Burton were arrested April 23 and booked into the Hall County Jail.
The investigation involved multiple agencies, including the Gainesville Police Department, Hall County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia State Patrol, Homeland Security Investigations Violent Gangs Task Force, FBI North Georgia Major Offenders Task Force, the GBI Metro Atlanta Gang Task Force and the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
