A pickup truck driver got a rude awakening and a good lesson on why you should never ignore road barricades.
According to officials, a pickup truck driver early Monday disobeyed a barricade blocking a section of Irvin Street near Level Grove Road. As the driver attempted to maneuver around a second barricade, they drove off the washed-out shoulder of the road and landed in the creek below.
Cornelia Police and Firefighters responded to the scene to assist the driver. A tow truck was called to pull the pickup out of the creek. There were no immediate reports of any injuries.
