Tallulah Falls School hosted a world geography bee for fifth- to eighth-grade students. Twenty-three students participated in the first round of written questions on May 3, with 11 top scorers competing in a final verbal competition on May 10.
Teagan Penland, an eighth-grader from Demorest, placed first in the bee’s final round. Seventh-grader Gracie Gunter of Cornelia placed second, and sixth-grader Owen Earp of Cornelia placed third.
In addition to the top three, other finalists included sixth-grader Dylan Johnson of Toccoa, seventh-graders Christian David of Cleveland, Elizabeth Stafford of Clarkesville, and Lucas Woodland of Martin, and eighth-graders Adelaide Tatum of Mt. Airy, Megan Prince of Rabun Gap, Shepard Crumley of Sautee, and Ethan Williams of Cornelia.
“Geography is the gateway to a world of discovery and understanding, empowering young minds to become global citizens and shape a brighter future for our planet,” said Geography Bee Coordinator Amanda Rogers. “I’m so proud of these students for their hard work.”
