HALL COUNTY, Ga. — Four Hall County schools are upgrading their learning commons after a $100,000 donation from the Melvin Douglas and Victoria Kay Ivester Foundation, district officials announced.
West Hall Middle School, Flowery Branch Elementary, Sugar Hill Elementary and Martin Elementary each received $25,000 to modernize their spaces with new instructional resources designed to support creativity, collaboration and student-centered learning.
District leaders marked the investment during a ceremony at the Mary Jane Murray Learning Commons at Johnson High School, which benefited from the foundation’s support last year.
Each newly enhanced space also honors a community member with ties to the Ivester Foundation: Pat Burd at West Hall Middle, Martha Jacobs at Flowery Branch Elementary, Susan Roddy at Sugar Hill Elementary and Kayanne Massey at Martin Elementary.
Principals and media specialists from the four schools attended the ceremony and thanked the foundation for its continued support.
Superintendent Will Schofield said the upgrades will have a lasting impact on students across the district.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Ivester Foundation for its investment in Hall County students,” Schofield said. “These learning commons will equip students with the tools, opportunities and inspiration they need to thrive in an ever-changing world.”
