Suspect in custody for Manchester murder

The Manchester Police Department announced a suspect is in custody for murder over the weekend there. The name of the victim and the suspect were not revealed in the latest press release Monday July 13, 2026.

On Sunday, July 12, 2026, at approximately 2:32 p.m., officers with the Manchester Police Department responded to the 500 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive regarding a report of a person who had been shot. Upon arrival, officers located an adult victim inside a white SUV suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Officers immediately began CPR until fire and EMS personnel arrived. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where they were later pronounced deceased.

Detectives with the Manchester Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID) responded to the scene and requested the assistance of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI). Manchester Police officers secured the scene and detained all involved parties pending the investigation. Upon arrival, the GBI assumed the lead investigative role.

During the investigation, a suspect was identified, taken into custody, and charged with murder.
