Severe weather threat results in school closings/delays

Once again, the Chattahoochee Valley is under the gun for severe weather. Tornadoes aren’t out of the question, but damaging straight-line winds appear to be an even bigger threat. When a major cold front clashes with temperatures in the upper 70’s, it’s the perfect setup for severe thunderstorms.

School closings for Monday, March 16:

The U.S. Army Garrison at Fort Benning issued a Weather Alert message and has referred a list of phone numbers for any issues for military families on post.

Please check with your local schools which may not be listed in a county school district. Currently, the greatest threat of severe weather appears to be between 3:00 am and 10:00 am. On Monday night through Tuesday morning, a Freeze Warning is in effect for much of our area.
