ELBERT COUNTY, Ga. — Authorities have identified the victim of a deadly house fire in Elbert County as 22-year-old Kaitlyn Singleton of Hester Road in Elberton.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Singleton’s identity following an autopsy. The fire remains under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office, the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office, the Elbert County Coroner’s Office and the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office.
Firefighters were dispatched to the home on Hester Road shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday, March 15. After crews brought the fire under control, they discovered one person dead inside the residence, according to Elbert County Coroner Chuck Almond.
Authorities have not released any additional details about what may have caused the fire.
The investigation remains ongoing.
