Runners endured the heat for the Run for Freedom 5k in Cleveand

CLEVELAND, Ga. — The inaugural  Run for Freedom 5k race kicked off the 4th of July activities in downtown Cleveland on Saturday.  Over 140 registered runners and walkers participated in the event that began and ended at Freedom Park.

Race organizer Carlos Santiago said, The first attempt for this in downtown Cleveland was a success.”

The overall male finisher was Obadia Kipruto, of Cleveland, with a time of 17:47.

Morgan Vandiver, from Sautee, was the overall female winner with a time of 23:16.
