A Halloween homicide is under investigation by the Columbus Police Department after a body was found in East Columbus Saturday October 31, 2026. Officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Lamore Street shortly after 11 am concerning a deceased person.
Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan said the victim died from a gunshot wound. Bryan said he is withholding the identification of the 55-year-old white male pending family notification. The victim’s immediate family lives in another country making notification difficult he said.
The Violent Crimes Unit is investigating the homicide. The victim’s body will be transported to the GBI crime lab for an autopsy according to the coroner. Police have not yet announced if there is a person of interest wanted in connection to the shooting death. This is a developing story.
