MOUNT AIRY, Ga. — The Mt. Airy Town Council will consider opening a certificate of deposit during its regular meeting Monday, Nov. 2.
The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the town’s municipal offices, 1231 Dicks Hill Parkway.
The agenda does not specify how much money the town may place in the CD, which financial institution it may use or what interest rate it expects to receive. Those details are expected to be part of Monday night’s discussion.
The town has not previously discussed opening or renewing a certificate of deposit in the Mt. Airy meeting coverage we’ve reviewed. The item could give residents a look at how the town plans to manage and invest some of its available funds.
Council members also will hear department reports and take public comments before considering the CD. The agenda includes approval of minutes from the Oct. 5 public hearing and council meeting.
At that October meeting, council approved a 4.5-mill property tax rate for 2026. Mayor Adam Tullis said the town planned to request a Jan. 30 payment deadline for property taxes.
The Nov. 2 meeting is open to the public.
