Wednesday, June 3, may well be the beginning of new careers in the healthcare field. That is when Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown welcomes 76 high school students for their Youth Volunteer Program for the summer.
Tomorrow is orientation day. Volunteers will hear from hospital leadership, team members across multiple departments, and Piedmont Auxiliary members.

The goal of the youth volunteer program is to attract and retain high school students ages 14-18 interested in healthcare careers but have never gotten a taste of the industry before now. The program officially launches June 15 and runs through July 23. Thirty-five departments across the Midtown and Northside hospital campuses, the John B. Amos Cancer Center, and the Bill and Olivia Amos Children’s Hospital will house the student volunteers.
Students had to complete an application, essay, and interview process before being selected to join the prestigious program, which was started in 1965.
