Traffic is at a standstill on GA 197 South near the GA 365 on/off ramp due to a wreck between a pickup truck and school bus. Emergency crews are on the scene.
The wreck was reported to Habersham County E-911 around 4 p.m. Thursday. Initial reports indicate the wreck involved a black Chevrolet pickup truck. Photos from the scene show a streak of black paint stretching down the driver’s side of the bus.
A witness reported seeing at least two students being treated at the scene for what appeared to be minor injuries. There are no reports of other injuries at this time.
Parents, many of whom were alerted to the wreck by their children on cellphones, arrived to pick up their kids. There has been no public comment about the incident by school officials. Now Georgia has reached out to Habersham County School Superintendent Patrick Franklin for additional information.
The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the wreck. Now Georgia will update this story as new information is released.
