One person is dead after a single vehicle accident on JR Allen Parkway early Friday September 4, 2026. The crash occurred in the westbound lane of the JR Allen Parkway near the River Road exit.
Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan identified the driver as 45-year-old Christopher Smith. Bryan said his next of kin was notified of his death on the scene.
According to the coroner the crash was first reported at 1:42 am. The Columbus Police Department did not arrive on scene until after 7:00 am. Smith was pronounced dead at 8:02 am. The reason for the time lapse and delay responding to the scene is unknown.
