CLARKESVILLE — The Georgia State Patrol is investigating a multi-vehicle accident that temporarily blocked a lane of traffic Thursday afternoon on Highway 17 at Valley Village Court in Clarkesville.
According to Lt. Ed Starling with the Georgia State Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. on May 14.
Troopers said a Ford F-150 was traveling north on Highway 17 while a Dodge Ram pickup was traveling south. Investigators said the driver of the Ford failed to yield the right of way while attempting to turn left onto Valley Village Court.
The Ford entered the southbound lane, causing a collision with the Dodge Ram, according to the crash investigation.

After impact, the Ford rotated counterclockwise and traveled across the northbound lane before leaving the east shoulder of the roadway. The Dodge traveled onto the west shoulder of Highway 17, down an embankment and into a chain-link fence before coming to rest south of Valley Village Court.
Habersham County Sheriff’s Office deputies directed traffic at the scene while emergency crews worked the crash. Habersham County EMS also responded.
The extent of any injuries was not immediately available Thursday afternoon.
Motorists experienced delays in the area as one lane of Highway 17 remained blocked during the investigation.
