Man reported missing from Gainesville hospital found safe, police say

Police have safely located a man who went missing after walking away from a Gainesville hospital Thursday afternoon.

Gainesville police released this photo of Barfield walking through the hospital. It’s believed he suffers from dementia and may need help. Anyone who sees him should call 911. (photo GPD)

Thomas Barfield, 65, left Northeast Georgia Medical Center on foot around 3:30 p.m.

The Gainesville Police Department reported Barfield was likely suffering from dementia and officials were worried about him.

The department issued a Mattie’s Call for him and later reported he had been found.
