Manhunt underway after Warm Springs police officer murdered

A manhunt is currently underway by multiple law enforcement agencies after a Warm Springs police officer was shot and killed late Tuesday night. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation identified the officer as Chris Fisher. Fox 5 reports the incident occurred at the Meriwether Country Inn on Spring Street.

The GBI issued a blue alert for 23-year-old Jimmie Steverson in connection to the death of Officer Fisher. Steverson is a black male, 5’6”, 150 lbs, with black locs and brown eyes. He was last seen in Warm Springs, GA, on September 1, 2026, at 11:57 p.m. Steverson was wearing a black t-shirt and black gym shorts. He was traveling in a 2026 black Chevrolet Silverado.

Steverson is considered armed and dangerous. If you see him or see any suspicious activity, please take immediate precautions and notify 911.
