Man arrested in Dollar General shooting investigation

GAINESVILLE, Ga. — A man has been arrested in connection with the shooting at the Dollar General on Limestone Parkway earlier this month, Gainesville police announced.

40-year-old Jarrid Carter is charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery, criminal attempt to commit armed robbery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Carter is being held in the Hall County Jail.

Police said the arrest was the result of a collaborative investigation involving the Gainesville Police Department, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the Hall County Sheriff’s Office and the White County Sheriff’s Office.

Police also thanked everyone who shared information and assisted with the investigation.

“We appreciate the community’s assistance in helping identify Carter,” the Gainesville Police Department said in a statement.

The shooting occurred on July 6 at the Dollar General on Limestone Parkway. Authorities have not released additional details about the incident, and the investigation remains ongoing.
