The bulk of the heat is behind us, however some additional heat advisories have been issued for parts of Northeast and Central Georgia for Sunday afternoon.

A Heat Advisory is in effect from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday for Baldwin, Bibb, Bleckley, Clarke, Crawford, Crisp, Dodge, Dooly, Emanuel, Glascock, Greene, Hancock, Houston, Jasper, Jefferson, Johnson, Jones, Laurens, Macon, Monroe, Montgomery, Morgan, Newton, Oconee, Oglethorpe, Peach, Pulaski, Putnam, Schley, Sumter, Taliaferro, Taylor, Telfair, Toombs, Treutlen, Twiggs, Walton, Warren, Washington, Wheeler, Wilcox, Wilkinson, and Wilkes Counties.

In these areas heat index values of up to 106º are expected. This type of heat can quickly become dangerous so be sure to take frequent breaks and stay hydrated if you are spending any outdoor time during those hours.

Elsewhere heat index values are expected to remain around 100º in West-Central Georgia and in the upper-90s for North Georgia. This is still dangerous heat, but below advisory criteria.
