Hot, dry weather is expected to start the week but some relief in the form of afternoon storms lurks by this weekend.
Tuesday through Thursday will likely go down as the hottest stretch of weather this year. Highs will climb to the upper-90s each day. Models have really keyed in on the potential for some much lower humidity to mix in on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons with dewpoints dropping into the low/mid-60s. This will make the heat feel significantly better, but that dry air will heat up quickly with some locations likely reaching the century mark on Thursday afternoon.
A major pattern shift is now coming into focus by later in the week. Modeling has keyed in on the upper ridge out west strengthening, allowing a trough of more unsettled weather to drop into the east coast. This will allow isolated afternoon storms to return by Friday and Saturday afternoons.
