Habersham County School students had a short day in class Thursday after icy roads delayed schools opening by three hours.
Roads still wet from Wednesday’s rain iced over during the night as temperatures dropped. Habersham County Dispatch notified administrators of the problem around 5:30 a.m. on December 17. School transportation officials checked on the roads and reported ice on some roadways and many bridges.
Administrators delayed the start of the school day to give the roads time to clear.
