ATHENS, Ga. — State Rep. Eric Gisler will host a town hall Monday, Sept. 28, to discuss Flock cameras, the information they collect, and how law enforcement uses them.
The panel-style question-and-answer session is scheduled for 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Ciné in downtown Athens. Residents are invited to bring questions.
The meeting follows the firing of an Athens-Clarke County Police Department employee accused of using the department’s Flock license plate reader system to search his ex-wife’s vehicle tag for personal reasons. Police subsequently restricted access to the system to officers ranked lieutenant or higher.
In recent months, more than two dozen law enforcement officials have been fired or arrested in Georgia due to alleged misuse of Flock cameras.
Gisler, a Democrat, represents House District 121, which includes parts of Clarke and Oconee counties. He faces Republican Mack “Dutch” Guest IV in the November election.
