A death investigation is underway after a 24-year-old female was found dead in Columbus Saturday afternoon June 27, 2026. The Muscogee County Coroner’s Office and crime scene investigators from the Columbus Police Department are processing the scene at Wilson Apartments.
Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan identified the dead woman as Maxine Hightower. The coroner said Hightower’s body will be sent to the GBI crime lab for an autopsy to rule out or confirm foul play. The 24-year-old woman was last seen alive on Tuesday.
Hightower lived in apartment 309B at 3400 8th Avenue in Columbus. This is a developing story.
