Coroner: 20-year-old slipped off rocks and drowned in the Chattahoochee

The Muscogee County Coroner told NowGeorgia.com a 20-year-old man slipped off some rocks and drowned in the Chattahoochee River Monday night. Buddy Bryan said Bryce Gulley from Phenix City was pronounced dead this morning after his body was located in the river behind the Trade Center.

Witnesses reported seeing Gulley slip into the water and attempt to make it back to shore. Gulley disappeared in the water near the Dillingham Bridge. Law enforcement from both sides of the river and Columbus Fire & EMS responded to the scene launching a massive search effort to locate Gulley.

The coroner said the 20-year-old Phenix City man’s family was notified on the scene.
