ATHENS, Ga. — Police have arrested a 24-year-old Athens man and charged him with murder in the shooting death of a man early Sunday.

Kendrick Faust was arrested Oct. 11 and charged with malice murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, according to Athens-Clarke County Police spokesperson Lt. Katie Jenkins.

Police began searching for Faust after responding to a shooting in the 150 block of Thumpa Avenue shortly after midnight Sunday. 33-year-old Tre Foster of Athens was taken to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries, according to Jenkins.

Before Faust’s arrest, authorities issued a lookout, asked the public for information on his whereabouts, and offered a reward of up to $1,000 for his arrest. It is unclear whether anyone will receive that reward. Jenkins said Safe Streets assisted with the arrest, and multiple law enforcement agencies collaborated throughout the investigation.

“Through collaboration with multiple law enforcement agencies, we were able to determine that Mr. Faust was located in Spalding County,” Lt. Jenkins told Now Georgia. Jenkins said she could not yet confirm whether anyone would receive the reward.

Authorities have not released details about what led to the shooting or how and where Faust was found.

The investigation remains active. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Johnson at [email protected] or 762-400-7060.
