BALDWIN, Ga. — The City of Baldwin has issued a boil water advisory after a water main break in the 4800 block of Old Highway 441 disrupted water service and caused low pressure in parts of the city’s water system.
City officials said the advisory was issued out of an abundance of caution because a loss of water pressure can increase the risk of microbial contamination in the system.
The advisory applies to customers in the following areas: Old Highway 441 south of Ottis Brown Road, Ottis Brown Road, Wynn Lake Road, Soapstone Road, Moss Mill Road, Moss Farm Road, and Rock Springs Road.
Residents who experienced water outages or low water pressure are advised to use boiled tap water or bottled water for drinking, cooking, or food preparation until further notice.
Bring tap water to a rolling boil for at least 2 minutes before using it for drinking, brushing teeth, washing, preparing food, preparing baby formula, making ice, or providing drinking water for pets.
The advisory will remain in effect until the city completes testing to confirm the water system is safe. Once the advisory is lifted, customers should flush all faucets for at least two minutes before using the water for drinking or cooking.
Anyone with questions can contact the City of Baldwin Water Department at 706-778-6341.
