Fundraiser supports family of motorcyclist killed after stopping for school bus

Joshua Browning was killed in a crash on Limestone Parkway.

GAINESVILLE, Ga. — The family of a Clermont man killed when a pickup truck struck his motorcycle while he was stopped for a school bus is seeking help covering nearly $14,000 in funeral expenses.

48-year-old Joshua Darrin Browning died from injuries sustained in the collision Tuesday, Sept. 29, on Limestone Parkway.

Crash remains under investigation

According to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, Browning had stopped his motorcycle in the left northbound lane after a county school bus traveling in the right lane extended its stop arm to unload passengers.

While Browning was waiting, investigators say a 2020 GMC Sierra driven by Norberto Macedo Lopez, 49, of Yakima, Washington, struck him from behind.

Browning was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, where he died from his injuries. Macedo Lopez was not injured.

Remembering Joshua

According to the fundraiser, Browning, a father of five, had liability insurance on his motorcycle but no life insurance. His family faced nearly $14,000 in funeral expenses.

The GoFundMe fundraiser says the family is awaiting the outcome of the crash investigation before learning whether the other driver’s insurance will cover any expenses. Organizers are asking for donations to help ease the financial burden and encouraging those unable to contribute to share the fundraiser.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Unit is investigating. Officials said charges are pending based on the outcome of that investigation.
