Toccoa Bypass reopens following crash with injuries

TOCCOA, Ga. — The Toccoa Bypass reopened early Friday following a motor vehicle accident that temporarily shut down traffic in both directions.

The crash occurred between West Currahee Street and Cawthon Road and involved injuries, according to an alert posted by the Carnes Creek Fire Department shortly before 1 a.m. Sept. 4. Authorities asked motorists to avoid the area while emergency crews worked at the scene.

Officials reported at 2:04 a.m. that the crash had been cleared and all lanes were open.

Now Georgia has reached out to the Georgia State Patrol for more information and will update this story as additional details become available.
