Memorial set for Harris County mom murdered in domestic dispute

Memorial service set for murder victim Nicole Karastury August 29, 2026 (Striffler-Hamby Mortuary)

A memorial service is set for the Harris County mom who was murdered after a domestic dispute August 17, 2026, near Waverly Hall. Visitation for Nicole “Nikki” E. Karastury is scheduled to begin at 10:00 am followed by the funeral at 11:00 am August 29, 2026, at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary’s Macon Road location in Columbus.

According to her obituary, Karastury worked as a veterinary assistant and was very passionate about caring for animals. “Her compassion was not confined to the workplace; She had a big heart and wanted to help every person and animal she encountered. She was also an advocate for animals, especially senior animals, offering her voice and her heart to those most in need of comfort, protection, and a chance at a second life. Which Nikki demonstrated beautifully by adopting Chester and establishing ‘Chester’s Legacy’ on Facebook.”

The 35-year-old Harris County High graduate is survived by three school aged children. A fundraiser established to financially support the children is still about $3,000 shy of its goal. You can donate to the family here: Fundraiser by Jarrod Thorne : Support Nicole Elliott’s Children

Karastury, also known as Nicole Elliott, was shot and killed in the yard of her home by her boyfriend Andrew Harris. Harris County Sheriff Mike Jolley said Harris had taken one of her boy’s prescription medications prompting an argument that led to the deadly shooting. Harris was out on bond at the time of the murder for a pending domestic charge involving Karastury. He died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in a Phenix City hotel the day after the shooting.
