Aggravated stalking suspect arrested in Lagrange

LaGrange PD arrested aggravated stalker (LaGrange Police Department)

The Lagrange Police Department has arrested Deonald Johnson on warrants of Aggravated Stalking at a residence in the 500 block of West Haralson Street in LaGrange.

According to the complainant, Johnson had been asked to leave the residence but refused to do so. As a result, law enforcement was contacted to have him removed from the property.

Upon arrival, officers set up a perimeter and began making verbal commands for Johnson to exit the residence with his hands raised. Johnson told officers that he was armed and said that he would not come outside, telling officers they would have to enter the residence to take him into custody.

The Emergency Services Unit and members of the Criminal Investigations Division responded to help with the incident. Johnson barricaded himself inside the residence while investigators worked to obtain a search warrant and officers continued efforts to secure a peaceful resolution.

After two hours of negotiations and de-escalation efforts, Johnson exited the residence and was taken into custody without further incident and transported for processing on the outstanding warrants.

No injuries were reported during the incident. The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information pertaining to this investigation is encouraged to contact Detective B. Vinson at 706-883-2620.
