Can you imagine running, riding, or walking in the heat for a little over 277 miles? On Tuesday, candidates ran for various seats in local and state government. Wednesday, May 20, saw volunteers running for another purpose, to support the Chattahoochee Valley House of Heroes and MercyMed of Columbus.
“Their dedication, sacrifice, and determination is an act of selflessness that helps veterans, first responders, and other families in need. The Run Across Georgia (RAG) is an annual fundraising event that makes a difference in the community,” said Josh McQuien CVHoH Executive Director.

Some teams and solo runners took off in the wee hours of the morning from Tybee Island, where the race begins, to where it ends in Columbus, Georgia.
The Wolf Pack officially crossed the finish line yesterday afternoon after completing an incredible 277.2-mile race from Tybee Island to Columbus!
Another group, including three running teams, one ruck team, three solo runners, and one bicyclist are expected to arrive back in Columbus on Sunday, May 24 between 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm. They would love to hear some cheering from supporters at the corner of 11th Street and Broadway.
“Last year, we had 38 runners participating and raised $22,000. This year, we’ve had less participants, but we are hoping to gain traction for the future” said Kena Lutz, Director of Run Across Georgia.
Keep in mind, the Chattahoochee Valley is home to heroes, both active duty and veterans. The race also supports healthcare for families in the community.

Even if you are not a runner, there is still plenty of time to donate and support the mission! Proceeds go to MercyMed and the Chattahoochee Valley Chapter of House of Heroes.
At the end of the run, it makes our community a better place to live.
